"To see what is right, and not to do it, is want of courage or of principle."

John Martin
John Martin is a highly experienced Programme Manager and Consultant with more than 20 years experience in the IT industry.
For the past fifteen years, he has specialized in running transition and transformation programmes, working for major multinational companies and service providers, including BT, AT&T, IBM, Orange and several Financial Services institutions. These assignments have all arisen as a result of company mergers, acquisitions and major outsourcing.
John manages these assignments by using a methodology which has been further enhanced over the years, from an original concept developed in his time working as a senior consultant for Coopers & Lybrand. The methodology also encompasses the organizational structures required to organize teams to facilitate a smooth transition, as well as techniques for compressing the transition timeline to enable the start of an early transformation deployment.
John has recently completed a six month transition assignment working in Brussels as the Programme Executive for pan European Government, successfully completing a handover to the ongoing transformation and life cycle director at the end of December.
During the preceding 18 months, John was on assignment in Moscow, improving a programme to design, plan and deploy an entirely new service provider network infrastructure across the whole of the Russian Federation. The geographical size of the country and the centralisation of qualified personnel around the two major cities, required changes to the overall methodology to overcome the logistical challenges. The deployment itself actually completed almost two months ahead of schedule.
John has run two global transitions, the first was the Siemens outsource transition to AT&T, the second was the transition and transformation of a major airline company's entire IT infrastructure which was outsourced to another service provider (the latter is still within NDA).
Other sizeable assignments include European transition manager for the IBM Global Network Services sale to AT&T and many pivotal roles for a number of accounts for BT in the Finance sector.
The move into management consultancy came when John transferred to the role of senior consultant with Coopers & Lybrand. He moved there from a position of internal consultant with Bank of America, based in London. At Coopers & Lybrand, John successfully undertook a range of assignments across the Middle East and Europe. It was during this time that the methodology and organisational models that he currently uses were originally developed to manage major company change. These models have been significantly updated over time in the light of changing requirements and the overall experience that John has gained in large scale change programmes.
John's original background was in Operations, where he progressed to the role of Network Operations Manager for Whitbread. This experience was used in a subsequent year long assignment in the role of Communications Manager for Guinness, during his time with Coopers and Lybrand.
During the 1990s, John was twice elected to the role of Chairman of the Computer Measurement Group (UKCMG) telecommunications sub-group, during which time he organised conferences and gave many presentations on a number of contemporary topics.
John has been retained by a London based education company for many years, presenting a variety of training courses, ranging from technical topics to service development and management. In 2006/7, John completed a global education tour for a Network Service Provider, encompassing London, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore, Atlanta and Buenos Aries.
